Which format should you pick?
JPG is the universal choice for photos: small files that open anywhere, but no transparency. PNG keeps every pixel intact and supports transparent backgrounds, perfect for logos and graphics, at the cost of larger files. WebP is the modern web format: up to 30% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, and supported by every current browser.
A note about transparency
When you convert a PNG with a transparent background to JPG, the transparency is replaced with solid white, JPG simply doesn't support it. If you need to keep the transparent background, choose PNG or WebP as the output format.
