Which format should you pick?
JPG is the universal choice for photos: small files that open anywhere, but no transparency. PNG keeps every pixel intact and supports transparent backgrounds — perfect for logos and graphics, at the cost of larger files. WebP is the modern web format: up to 30% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, and supported by every current browser.
A note about transparency
When you convert a PNG with a transparent background to JPG, the transparency is replaced with solid white — JPG simply doesn't support it. If you need to keep the transparent background, choose PNG or WebP as the output format.
