One million seconds? About 11.5 days
Big numbers fool our intuition: one million seconds is just over 11 and a half days, while one billion seconds is more than 31 years. Likewise, 100,000 minutes sounds like an eternity but works out to only 69 days. That's also why "saving 10 minutes a day" is worth more than it seems: over a year it adds up to more than 60 hours — almost three full days. Try those values in the converter and see for yourself.
How long is a month or a year, exactly?
Seconds, minutes, hours, days, and weeks have fixed values, but months and years don't: months run from 28 to 31 days, and every fourth year is a leap year. That's why this converter uses calendar averages: a year counts as 365.25 days and an average month as 30.44 days (one twelfth of a year). These are the same conventions used in astronomy and in monthly-billing contracts, and they're perfect for estimates and comparisons — but to count the exact number of days between two dates, you need a calendar.
