What splitting a PDF is for
Extracting just some pages is handy to keep the chapter you care about from a manual, separate a single invoice from a summary, remove blank or advert pages, or send only the signed part of a contract instead of the whole document.
How to specify pages
Write the numbers separated by commas and use a dash for ranges: for example 1-3, 5, 8-10 extracts pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10 in that order. The pages are added in the order you write them.
