Business days between two dates
Count the working days between two dates, skipping Saturdays, Sundays and US federal holidays โ from New Year's Day to Christmas.
Which US holidays are excluded
The count skips the 11 US federal holidays: New Year's Day (January 1), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (third Monday of January), Presidents' Day (third Monday of February), Memorial Day (last Monday of May), Juneteenth (June 19), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (first Monday of September), Columbus Day (second Monday of October), Veterans Day (November 11), Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday of November) and Christmas (December 25). Floating holidays like Thanksgiving are computed year by year, so the calculator works for any date range. State holidays and company-specific days off are not included, since they vary from place to place and employer to employer.
How the days are counted
The count includes both endpoints: Monday through Friday of the same week, with no holidays in between, gives you exactly 5 business days. A holiday that lands on a Saturday or Sunday is never subtracted twice โ it shows up in the list with a note, but only counts once. Keep in mind that when a federal holiday falls on a weekend, many offices observe it on the nearest weekday; this tool counts the official calendar date. For legal, tax or contractual deadlines, always double-check the specific rules with a professional โ some terms count only business days, others calendar days.
